Sri Lanka, June 11 – Iran stated that it carried out strikes against U.S. military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as attacked two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in response to fresh American assaults on Iranian territory.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed they carried out drone attacks on Bahrain's Sheikh Isa Air Base and Kuwait's Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber Air Bases at the beginning of Thursday.
Two oil tankers that tried "to unlawfully transit" the Strait of Hormuz were also struck, it reported.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps alleged that the U.S. had committed "repeated breaches" of the April truce and announced that the Strait of Hormuz was "closed indefinitely." It stated that all movement through the strait, including oil tankers and merchant ships, would be impacted.
The assaults followed the U.S. Central Command's declaration of fresh bombings against "various locations" within Iran. The armed forces stated these actions were carried out under President Donald Trump's directive and "as retaliation for Iran's unjustified and ongoing hostilities."
State-run Iranian media mentioned blasts occurring on Qeshm Island as well as in the towns of Bandar Abbas and Sirik near the Strait of Hormuz.
