Dhaka, July 2 – Officers from the Bangladesh Police have begun donning their newly introduced attire, which includes dark blue tops paired with khaki pants and light green t-shirts along with khaki trousers, starting today.
The updated uniform was observed on a restricted basis at Police Headquarters, metro police departments, and local police groups, as staff members started carrying out their responsibilities in the newly designed outfits.
The updated attire was noticeable at the opening ceremony of the recently constructed Borkaou Police Camp within the Purbachal New Town Initiative on Wednesday morning.
During the gathering, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir was observed wearing a deep blue top, whereas Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed opted for a pale greenish-yellow shirt. Each official had on khaki pants.
An experienced officer from the Police Department, who spoke with UNB under an agreement for confidentiality, mentioned that law enforcement staff formally started using the updated attire on Wednesday, even though the rollout hasn't been finalized throughout the department.
"Not all members have obtained the new uniforms so far. They will be distributed in stages. Individuals who have already been issued the uniforms have begun carrying out their responsibilities in the updated clothing," the official stated.
As per the updated uniform policy, law enforcement officers working at the district level will be required to wear dark blue tops along with khaki pants, whereas those stationed in city regions will don light green shirts together with khaki pants.
According to police officials, the updated uniforms will be handed out progressively to every unit throughout the nation. After the distribution has been finalized, each member of the department will carry out their responsibilities wearing the new clothing.
