Autech Carrier stated on July 2 that it has started large-scale manufacturing of residential heat pump boilers at its facility in Gwangju.
Instead of burning fuel like gas or oil to generate warmth, heat pump boilers utilize electrical power to extract thermal energy from the atmosphere, delivering both space heating and domestic hot water. This process functions in reverse compared to air conditioning units, which remove heat from inside to cool spaces, as these systems pull heat from outdoor air to raise the temperature of water.
The recently mass-produced item employs an "air-to-water" technique, utilizing ambient heat to warm water and combining underfloor heating with a domestic hot water solution. It provides hot water at temperatures as high as 65°C, meeting typical home heating and hot water requirements. Autech Carrier mentioned that, when contrasted with gas boilers offering equivalent heating capacity, electricity expenses could decrease by around 65%.
Heating systems using heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular because of their high energy effectiveness. Rather than converting electrical power into warmth outright like traditional electric heaters, these devices move pre-existing heat from the exterior environment, producing greater levels of heat with the same quantity of electricity. Additionally, as they don’t combust fuel, they help lower greenhouse gas emissions when used for warming purposes.
In 2011, Autech Carrier created an inverter hybrid boiler and introduced it to the market in 2014. Additionally, the firm was involved in KEPCO's initiative for distributing thermal storage heat pump boilers. Now that manufacturing has begun at its Gwangju facility, Autech Carrier aims to increase the availability of heat pump boilers within the residential heating sector.
