The former Prime Minister, Kim Min-seok, said, "Winning the general election and maintaining power are the strongest assurances for unchangeable reforms within the prosecution," and he also mentioned, "I am sure the Democratic Party will secure another victory."
Earlier Prime Minister Kim posted on X, previously known as Twitter, on the morning of the second day, "The importance of finishing prosecutor reforms has been confirmed again."
He further stated, "A JTBC report indicated that the prosecutors were unaware of the interrogation site until the morning of the day they questioned Kim Keon-hee, and they proceeded only after being informed of the location by Kim Keon-hee's team." He highlighted the importance of overhauling the prosecutor system, saying, "It seems as though Kim Keon-hee called upon the prosecution."
Prior to retiring on June 25, former Prime Minister Kim declared, "The government has decided to abolish the prosecution's authority for additional investigations as part of its fundamental policy." During that period, he further mentioned that the government would abide by the National Assembly's decisions and laws instead of introducing an independent legislative proposal.
The former Prime Minister Kim has come back to the National Assembly to vie for the upcoming leadership position within the Democratic Party. As the party conference is set for August 17, debates regarding judicial reforms among the candidate leaders are anticipated to intensify quickly.
