The release of a public opinion poll indicating that President Lee Jae Myung received an approval rating of 58% regarding national matters occurred on July 2nd.
As per the National Barometer Survey (NBS), released today by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research International, and Hankook Research, which interviewed 1,000 individuals across the country who were 18 years old or above between June 29 and July 1, 58% expressed approval when questioned, "Do you believe President Lee Jae Myung is performing effectively as president?"
The president's popularity regarding state matters fell by 9 percentage points in the latest poll compared to 66% measured during the third week of May, prior to the municipal elections, but increased by 1 percentage point in this survey.
The unfavorable assessment, "performing badly," rose by 2 percentage points to 35 percent when compared to the earlier poll. "Unsure / No answer" made up 7 percent.
The Democratic Party of Korea saw an increase of 1 percentage point in its public support, reaching 42%, according to the latest poll, whereas the People Power Party experienced a decline of 5 percentage points, dropping to 20%. This resulted in a widening difference of 22 percentage points between the two major parties. Behind these were the Reform Party with 2%, the Rebuilding Korea Party at 2%, and the Progressive Party with 1%.
Approximately 47% of participants stated, "No electoral misconduct occurred," whereas 42% claimed, "Electoral misconduct took place," with these figures lying within the range of statistical uncertainty.
In their 40s (56%) and 50s (61%), more than half of the replies indicated, "No electoral fraud occurred." For individuals between 18-29 years old and in their 30s, statements claiming "electoral fraud took place" accounted for 53% and 48%, correspondingly.
Within the base of the People Power Party, 77% stated, "Election fraud occurred," whereas 72% of members from the Democratic Party of Korea replied, "No election fraud took place."
The research was carried out through telephone conversations utilizing mobile number virtual lines (100%). The margin of error stands at ±3.1 percentage points with a 95% confidence interval. The participation rate amounted to 20.0%.
