A five-year-old girl's body was carried off by a massive wave at Laguna Beach in California Earlier this week, the individual was found following an extensive search lasting several days.

Amada Mia Brown's remains were seen early Thursday morning, located between 250 and 300 yards off the coast of Christmas Authorities carried out an air inspection of the shoreline, as reported by the Laguna Beach Marine Safety Department.

The site was approximately a quarter mile north from the spot where the young girl was carried off on Tuesday night.

A coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving multiple agencies began at approximately 7:30 pm on the same day, when Brown went missing, and continued through Tuesday evening.

A young girl was strolling along the shoreline alongside her mom and sibling when a remarkably big wave, generated by a strong southern current, swept the entire family into the sea.

Quickly, witnesses jumped into the water and saved the mother and child, yet they could not recover Brown.

The Laguna Beach Marine Safety team, along with the Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol and the United States Coast Guard, collaborated in searching for the young child. However, the operation was suspended at 9 p.m. on Wednesday because of poor visibility.

The operation continued for over 30 hours and spanned more than 90 square miles, with vessels, divers, and planes facing hazardous sea conditions, according to authorities.

Following the cancellation of the search, Laguna Beach Marine Safety stated that their staff would shift focus to observing the beachfront and open water regions.

"Ceasing a search is a very challenging choice," stated Captain Stacey Crecy, head of the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach.

We deployed resources and acted swiftly, conducting continuous searches all through the night and up until dusk on June 10, 2026. We collaborated closely with emergency personnel in Laguna Beach to perform an organized and comprehensive investigation of the region.

The county sheriff's office medical examiner confirmed the identity of the young girl and informed her relatives. A candlelight gathering was organized for her on Thursday night, during which her sorrowful father, Aaron Brown, addressed journalists.

"I was wounded, and simply contemplating what my daughter might have experienced in her final moments," he stated.

Quite certain she was frightened, and the inability to be present for her was essentially what occupied my thoughts.

A father shared heartfelt photos of him and his daughter on Facebook, writing: "Rest In Peace my little girl. I'm truly sorry I couldn't be there. I miss you deeply and will always love you until we meet again."

Tides reaching up to ten feet were noted in certain areas of Orange County this week, with maritime authorities cautioning about the risks associated with entering the water and advising individuals to maintain a secure distance from the coast.

Not long after Brown disappeared, Laguna Beach Mayor Mark Orgill issued a statement saying: "This is among the most tragic events I've seen throughout my service to this community."

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy.

On behalf of the Laguna Beach residents, we offer our heartfelt sympathies and would like the family to be aware that they are in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely challenging period.
