American troops destroyed two Iranian assault drones that were endangering global shipping in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, as reported by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
"Shortly ago, U.S. military personnel in the Middle East intercepted two Iranian suicide drones that posed a risk to global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz," stated CENTCOM in a message posted on X.
CENTCOM stated it is still ready to "keep protecting itself from Iranian attacks."
Interceptions occurred one day following U.S. forces shooting down four additional Iranian assault drones aimed at the Strait of Hormuz, which the military claimed presented a risk to shipping activities.
Recent advancements came after further tension in the Gulf region. The government of Bahrain stated that ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were fired by Iran toward Bahrain and Kuwait were detected at an early stage on Saturday, and called on Tehran to stop attacking its Persian Gulf neighbors.
Iran stated that it has struck U.S. military installations in both nations after American attacks on monitoring stations located on Qeshm Island and close to Sirik, which Tehran claimed were utilized for border protection and maintaining the safety of global maritime traffic. Iran characterized the U.S. bombings as an infringement upon the truce.
The discussions occur amid the Trump administration's ongoing efforts to secure an agreement to conclude the hostilities.
