The Technical Working Group on Women's Political Participation has stated its willingness to continue working with the National Assembly and the media to facilitate the successful enactment of the Special Seats for Women Bill.

A declaration from the National Chairman of the organization, Ebere Ifendu, on behalf of the TWG Secretariat and alliance also recognized the advancements achieved by the House of Representatives in the constitutional amendment process.

The request urged all supporters and collaborators to remain firm regarding the topic.

The statement reads :

We praise the House for approving the State Police Bill and encourage all members to cast their votes in favor of Bill 20: Special Seats for Women Bill. The Women’s Political Participation Technical Working Group remains committed to working closely with lawmakers and the press to secure its approval.

We request all supporters and collaborators to remain determined. This legislation is nearer to becoming law than at any time previously.

After the House of Representatives' full meeting on June 11, 2026, we offer this progress report regarding the Special Seats Bill.

The legislation aimed at reserving parliamentary positions for women did not receive a vote because of additional items on the agenda and an ongoing issue with the floor procedure. Nevertheless, the State Police Act was discussed and approved, indicating advancement in constitutional changes.

"The Special Seats Bill continues to appear on the agenda and will be reviewed once the Assembly reconvenes on July 7, 2026. A significant update is the addition of two Senate seats per geographical region, resulting in a total of twelve reserved positions for women." It further stated.
