The Nigerian military stated that it has managed conflicts after unauthorized forces from Cameroon entered the Danare village within the Boki local government area of Cross River State.

The military stated that the event, which took place on Tuesday, was quickly controlled by Nigerian forces stationed in the region, stopping it from worsening.

The Assistant Deputy Director for Army Public Relations from the 82nd Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, revealed this information in a press release published in Enugu on Thursday.

As per Ayeni, forces stationed at the Forward Operating Base, Danare, reacted upon being informed about the arrival of Cameroonian soldiers in the area and promptly reached out to the relevant military officials in Cameroon.

He mentioned that the involvement resulted in the departure of foreign forces from Nigeria's land according to set boundary procedures.

Ayeni mentioned that initial results indicated the event originated from a conflict regarding the gathering of fees for agricultural land situated between the Danare village in Nigeria and the Dadi village in Cameroon.

"Continuing existing diplomatic and military collaboration, along with steps to build trust, the General Officer Commanding of the 82nd Division ordered the Commander of the 13th Brigade to meet with his Cameroonian equivalent to discuss the current circumstances," the statement said.

A military representative stated that the scheduled interaction aims to enhance border cooperation, define operating protocols at the frontier, and avoid future incidents.

He restated the dedication of the 82nd Division to safeguarding Nigeria's national boundaries and maintaining the security of populations under its jurisdiction.

Ayeni informed locals that tranquility has been restored in Danare and surrounding areas, mentioning that soldiers remain alert and keep an eye on events at the boundary.

He urged residents to remain calm, go about their lawful activities and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
